Notice to Bidders:
Due to an unforeseen circumstance, as of Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the County is no longer accepting bids for the property at 5999 25th Ave Trail in Vinton, IA. We are sorry for any inconvenience to those who have already submitted a bid or to those who were going to submit a bid. We will provide future public notice regarding if or when the bidding for this property is open. Any bids provided prior to those notice will be valid bids if or when the bidding for this property is open in the future. Any bids received after the posting of this notice, will not be considered as valid bids now or in the future for this property.
Benton County Conservation Animal Shelter Property – Parcel#24041820
To all interested bidders:
Benton County Conservation now is accepting sealed bid proposals at the Benton County Conservation Nature Center (5718 20th Ave Dr, Vinton, IA 52349) until 12:00pm, Friday, January 10, 2025 for the purchase of a lot located within Vinton City Limits, 0.62 acres at 5999 25th Ave Trl, Vinton, IA 52349; parcel#24041820.
Terms:
- Each bid must specify one of the following:
- Either: Include an additional $2500 to their stated bid to have the seller decommission the private sewage disposal system so that the time of transfer inspection and upgrading of the private sewage disposal system serving the property will not be required.

- Decommissioning includes severing and capping the exterior sewer line and properly abandoning the private sewage disposal system.
- If the buyer desires to utilize the plumbing in the structure, they will be responsible for ensuring that adequate treatment of the wastewater is provided.
OR

- Enter into a binding agreement with the Benton County Board of Health that the time of transfer inspection and upgrading of the private sewage disposal system serving the property will not be required as long as the structure is not occupied and is demolished by June 1, 2025.
- Once the structure is demolished, the private sewage disposal system shall be properly abandoned which includes pumping the septic tank, crushing in the tank lid, and filling the tank with sand or soil.
- Documentation of the abandonment shall be provided to Benton County Environmental Health.
- Enter into a binding agreement with the Benton County Board of Health that the time of transfer inspection and upgrading of the private sewage disposal system serving the property will not be required as long as the structure is not occupied and is demolished by June 1, 2025.
- With exception of the septic clause, the property is purchased as is.
- Benton County Conservation must have the payment within two weeks of accepted bid.
- Once the bid is accepted on January 13th, bidder will be contacted by January 14th, a check must be made out to Benton County Conservation and in the department’s possession by January 28th, 2025 at 10:00am.

All bids shall be submitted on the provided form (page 3 of pdf attachment linked on county website), in a sealed envelope, to Benton County Conservation 5718 20th Ave Dr, Vinton, IA 52349 with the words “Property Bid” written on the outside of the envelope. Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope mailed or given to Benton County Conservation no later than 12:00pm on Friday, January 10th, 2025.
The department reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
