Benton County Conservation receives donation from a local business!

VINTON – Benton County Conservation received a donation of $25,000 towards the Wildcat Bluff Expansion from Frontier Co-op.

Tony Bedard, CEO of Frontier Co-op stated, “Frontier Co-op has been deeply invested in our communities in rural Iowa since our founding back in 1976. Today, Benton County is home to many of our employees and three of our four facilities here in Iowa. Our team is excited to see the work Benton County Conservation is doing to expand the Wildcat Bluff Recreation Area and proud to be able to support the project.”

With Frontier Co-op’s donation, over $700,000 has been raised for the Wildcat Bluff Expansion, which will more than double the size of the existing park. This means Benton County Conservation is more than halfway toward their fundraising goal and you can help!

Recently Benton County Conservation received a special challenge opportunity for this project from the Myers’ Family Conservation Fund where you have the opportunity to have your funds matched for any size donation! To help keep this momentum going, we invite everyone to utilize the Myers’s Family Conservation Fund challenge grant to double your impact. The matching funds challenge runs until the beginning of May 2024.

Benton County Conservation Completes Funding for Wildcat Bluff Expansion with Community and REAP Support

posted 12/16/24 · Conservation A public funding campaign from local citizens, organizations and businesses raised $600,000 for Benton County Conservation Board. These funds will go toward adding an additional land adjacent to the Wildcat Bluff Recreation Area. The addition more than doubles the size of this popular park, providing even more outdoor recreation opportunities in the county and protecting sensitive Cedar River floodplain. The new addition is closed to the public as the transfer of land is processed, but there is an anticipated event to celebrate the opening this spring.
